InboxScout ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using InboxScout, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash — we never store your plain-text password).

Email account credentials

To connect your inbox, we collect IMAP credentials (host, port, username, and password) or OAuth tokens (for Gmail). These are stored securely and used solely to scan your email on your behalf. We do not share your credentials with any third party.

Email content

InboxScout reads the subject line, sender, and body of emails in your connected inbox to scan for brand deals and categorize messages. To power your dashboard, deal cards, and the in-app conversation view, we store the content of relevant emails — including the subject, sender, body, and any later replies in the same thread — in our database. This content is retained for as long as the associated deal and your account exist, and is deleted when you delete the deal or your account.

Usage data

We may collect basic usage information such as scan frequency, number of deals detected, and feature usage. This data is used to improve the product and is never sold.

Billing information

When you purchase a subscription, your payment is processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. We do not collect or store your full payment card number — that information is handled directly by Stripe. We receive and store limited billing details such as your subscription plan, billing interval, subscription status, and a Stripe customer reference, so we can manage your account.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the InboxScout service
• Scan your inbox and categorize emails on your behalf
• Send transactional emails (account verification, important notices)
• Respond to support requests
• Improve AI categorization accuracy (using anonymized, aggregated data only — never individual email content)

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Anthropic (Claude API): Email content is sent to Anthropic's API for AI categorization. See anthropic.com/privacy for their policy.
• Stripe (payments): When you subscribe, your payment details and billing information are processed by Stripe. See stripe.com/privacy for their policy.
• Resend (email delivery): We use Resend to send transactional emails (such as verification, password reset, and payment confirmation), which means your email address is processed by Resend for delivery. See resend.com/legal/privacy-policy for their policy.
• Infrastructure providers: We use Railway.app for hosting and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for encryption key management. Your data is stored and processed on their infrastructure.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Deal data and scan history are retained to power your dashboard. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

5. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted storage of credentials and secure HTTPS connections. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your InboxScout account.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Disconnect your email account at any time via Settings

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or a notice on the dashboard. Continued use of InboxScout after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
